The Process
To better understand these challenges and determine the best way forward, we spoke to restaurants and cafes that were operating locally. This included well-known entities like McDonald’s and Shawarmer, allowing us to gain insights into the challenges they were facing locally, particularly when it came to recruitment. We also interviewed SME’s to learn about their challenges, and asses how these challenges differed for entities of different sizes. We were therefore able to determine the services that our solution needed to provide so that it could meet the requirements of each type of business. These services included providing restaurants and cafes with operational guidance through a knowledge hub, industry news & updates through a news stream, and recruitment-related services; making the platform the go-to option for HR managers and employers. These were the most essential services the restaurants and cafes required, and so we decided to to focus on them for the first phase of Bustan, thereafter aiming to add additional features such as training services. We also decided to name the platform Bustan as an ‘orchard’ that would not only help the F&B entities to grow, but would also continue to grow itself.
